Jenny kept seeing the numbers come through and it just wasn't adding up, she was incredibly anxious as it was and wanted out of the contract. She had notified the builder representative and was told it would cost her $3,000 to break the contract. She did not think that was right, she took the issue to her flight chief for advice who - according to Jenny - immediately asked why she wasn't using CalzaCo. It was too late for us to represent Jenny... you waive your right to your own representation if you visit a new builder home site without that representation. However, we did take time to review her contract and explain to her what the discrepancies were and point out important clauses that would help her. Jenny was able to cancel the contract and get her money back. We then helped Jenny find a home that would be much more affordable for her, still a new build, still close to base, and would make a great investment for her. We helped her pick a floor plan she loved that offered features that would make it easy to have a fellow Airman roommate, and aspects that would ensure less maintenance later while making it a good long term rental when she PCS'd. 

Bottomline: would you go to court without a lawyer if you were being sued for $400,000+, or would you want someone you could trust to represent you?

What can an agent even do for me? The process is so straight forward... that's what Jenny thought. Fast forward 5 months and she called CalzaCo in tears. She had ranked up and was moving out of the dorms on Luke AFB and had her eyes set on a nearby community. She had gone under contract there without representation, not even thinking twice - there was a rep there after all.... the process had felt like a second full time job, the numbers she got on the loan disclosures didn't match what the rep had told her to expect but the new build representative's answer was "don't worry about it, that's normal" but the final straw that caused her to call so frustrated her voice was breaking was that she was supposed to close in 4 months but now the builder was over a month behind and cabinets were not even installed.
